CLASSES FOR CHILDREN & YOUTH

We offer dance classes for Children and Youth beginning at age 3. Upon enrolling your child with our school, you are entrusting a very special part of his or her education to us. We are dedicated to the task of not only teaching dance, but also to nurturing the development of the mental and physical growth, coordination, poise and grace of each individual. We encourage parents to take an active part in helping maintain an enthusiastic attitude toward dancing for your child at all times. Quite a few of our parents have taken the "leap" of sharing the joy of dance with their children by joining one of our adult dance classes. ADULT CLASSES!

It's never too late! We offer a wide variety of dance classes for adults, including tap, jazz, ballet, "ballet shape", contemporary, hip-hop and yoga.

Adult Dance classes offer an opportunity to learn new skills, have fun, make new friends, and get exercise (much more fun than laboring on the treadmill). An especially excellent workout comes with the relatively new “Ballet Shape” class, taught by Jennifer Tcharikova, who calls it the “weekend redemption” class.

With beginner, intermediate and advanced adult dance classes, you're sure to find one that will be a perfect fit for your dance level. We are known for our easy, fun, relaxed atmosphere, where you can progress at a pace that is comfortable for you. And yes, we welcome men as well as women!

3-9 Year Olds

  • For 3 to 8 year olds – for the new, young student; a combination of Ballet, Tap and Tumbling. Introduction to the joy of rhythm, movement and coordination.

    (Creative Jazz, Ballet and Tap, Level I)
    For 5th year 7 year olds or by teacher recommendation. It continues building on the student’s foundation of Ballet and Tap. The class is 1 hour and 15 minutes and Jazz is introduced this year.

  • Black Leotard - Jazz Pants or Shorts, Black Tap Shoes, Pink Ballet Shoes, Black Jazz Shoes are Optional

    (Creative Jazz, Ballet and Tap, Level II)
    For 8 & 9 yr olds or by teacher recommendation. The class is 1 hour and 30 minutes with 30 minutes each devoted to Ballet, Tap & Jazz. Prepares student for the next year when their classes will be split up to 2 days per week.

  • For ages 5 to 12; students learn songs from hit musicals, acting and movement. Taught by Lauris Blackwell, a member of River City Pops.

9 year old - Teen

  • Pink Ballet Shoes with elastic, Pink Tights, Black leotard, any color skirt optional.

    For 9 yr olds & up – includes the basics of Ballet Barre, and Center work; introduction to French terminology that forms the basic universal language of Ballet; emphasis on proper body placement, correct body building and development of poise and grace.
  • Black Leotard - Black Jazz Pants or Shorts - Toast Tights - Black Jazz Shoes

    For 9 years and up – stylized theatrical form of dancing; promotes good posture, strength, technique and rhythm.

  • Black Leotard - Black Jazz Pants or Shorts - Toast Tights - Black Tap Shoes

    For 9 yrs and up- develops better coordination, rhythm and timing; strengthens feet and legs.

  • For 9 yr olds to teens; incorporates isolation and stretching exercises to enhance student’s physical fitness

  • Sur la pointe, is the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, it is performed using hard–toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires strength and skill and is an integral part of a ballet dancer’s training and repertoire. Each dancer will be individually evaluated to transition from soft ballet shoes to pointe shoes.

  • For 10 yr olds to teens; a combination of both Jazz and Ballet ; uses the technique and discipline of Ballet with the freedom of Jazz. Students must be enrolled in at least one Ballet class in addition to the Lyrical class.

  • A non-traditional, emotionally driven exploration of motion that uses basic fundamentals of suspension, dynamics, fluidity and freedom of expressions.

Adult

Adult Classes

  • Recieve the benifits of traditional Barre and Center Excercises to strengthen and elongate muscles that are used in every day life. Improve your flexibility, posture and grace, on the dance floor in a friendly environment.

  • Develops better coordination, rhythm and timing. Strengthens feet and legs. Beginner, Intermidiate and Advanced levels offered at both locations.

  • A fun and energetic class designed to build strenth and flexibilty through unique and theatrical movements and stylized steps. Allow your own personality to explode on the dance floor.

  • Ballet Shape is an exercise class for Adults using the fundamentals of ballet technique at the barre with low impact. No jumps allowed in this class! Ballet Shape focuses on using repetition to target those hard to shape areas such as inner thighs, lower back, and glutes. You will continue to reshape your body with conditioning on mats, then on to a cool down with a total body stretch. This will be your “weekend redemption” class!

  • A non-traditional, emotionally driven exploration of motion that uses basic fundamentals of suspension, dynamics, fluidity and freedom of expressions.

  • This class is appropriate for all levels, with emphasis on building strength, enhancing flexibility and balance and exploring your “edge” in each class. Each class will be different and challenging. Yoga has been shown to reduce blood pressure, increase flexibility and strength, manage stress, and provide participants with a general feeling of well-being.

  • Incorporates isolation and stretching exercises to enhance physical fitness!
