Kris Nicolaisen

Instructor

Born in Houston, Kristin Nicolaisen has been an award-winning competitive dancer since the age of six. She began her professional dancing, instructing, and choreographing career at 18, specializing in contemporary, jazz, acro and guided improv while attending college and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in communications and sociology. 

She has trained nationwide, danced with ‘Masters of Dance,’ worked with multiple dance companies, and performed as a backup dancer. She also received extensive training in both LA and NY while attending Dance Teacher Summit numerous times. 

Kristin worked as Company Director and of both the youth and professional companies at Alisa’s Dance Academy for ten years. She co-founded and co-owned Balance Dance Studios and created Push Dance Company, working as the artistic director until 2021. Her companies and choreography have earned an extensive amount of awards and recognitions offering her many wonderful honors and opportunities. During this time she also danced and choreographed professionally for a myriad of shows and projects, including touring with musical artist, music videos, various schools/colleges, company conventions, fundraisers, festivals etc. Kristin strives to provide excellence in training and performance while empowering students of all ages to find and express their unique artistic voice through dance.  

In her spare time, Kristin loves the outdoors and all arts, including painting and the theatre, as well as spending time with her beloved beagle Mr. Boogie.
