Sam Simpson

Sam Simpson began dancing at the age of 10 and performing as a trainee with a professional dance company at the age of 16. Sam traveled to many different dance conventions taking from Jason Parsons, Mia Michaels, Travis Wall, Todd Shanks, Robin Dawn, Ray Leeper, Stacey Tookey, and Mark Meismer. In 2019 Sam won the title of Senior Mr. DEA (Dance Educators of America) and was given an annual dance scholarship to Dean College located in Franklin, MA. Sam then started a four year journey with Dean College in work for his degree, and during this time Sam was a guest performer and in the internship program with Alabama Dance Works. While at Dean, Sam had the pleasure of training under Kristina Berger, Jill Silverman, Kimberly Sedlak, Jeremy Howes, Todd Shanks, Katie Pastizzi, Russell Clarke, and Mark Harootian. Sam was featured in many college performances including José Lìmon’s The Unsung, where he was a rotating soloist, and Hernán Martínez’s Otras formas habitan en mi. Sam was also 1 of 10 students invited to perform Hayley White’s Power Of Man at the American College Dance Association in 2022 at Middlebury College in Vermont. Sam graduated from Dean College in May of 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in dance with a focus in modern performance. He is so excited to join SMSD this fall!
